Could It Be? Poem by Robert Mahoney

Could It Be?

She closes her eyes and she asks herself
Is it all a lie? Is there nothing else?
Is this all that life can be?
She's sitting all alone
In a house that's far from Home
Trying not to feel
Pain's the only thing that's real

Everything is wrong now
None of this is right
All her hope is gone now
For a better life
No reason to go on now
She's lost the will to fight
And so she says good-bye, she says good-bye

She picks up the knife and she takes a breath
She whispers good-bye says hello to death
It's time for her to leave
And now I'm so alone
She's never coming home
How could this be real?
I can't believe that this is real

Everything is wrong now
None of this is right
All her hope is gone now
Stolen with her life
No reason to go on now
I've lost my will to fight
The day she said good-bye, she said good-bye

Restless day gives way to sleepless night
The once common smiles now so hard to find
Nothing they can say can ever make it right
Nights are filled with deams of suicide
Haunted by the sight of empty eyes
The halls echo good-bye, echo good-bye

Everything is wrong now
None of this is right
All her hope is gone now
Stolen with her life
No reason to go on now
I've lost my will to fight
The day she said good-bye, she said good-bye
The day she said good-bye, she said good-bye
The day she said good-bye, she said good-bye
And took her life
