Botanical Latin Peace Poem by Kimberly Burnham

Botanical Latin Peace

In the Latin plant world
"tranquillus" is calm still quiet
the opposite of turbulent

Plants grow
"in sinubus profundis tranquillissimis
luce minus expositis precipue exspectandae
sunt Siphoneae et Dictyoteae"
in deep very calm bays
less exposed to the light
especially are to be expected
the Siphoneae and Dictyoteae

Or "hab. aliis algis parasitica
in sinubus tranquillioribus sublimosis"
it grows parasitic on other algae
in somewhat muddy, more quiet bays.

Tranquility rest on the work of others
in the muddy and still water
peace not to be had without connecting
with and doing the work together
sometimes getting dirty but feeling satisfied
and calm with certain expectations met

Pax, peace, comes to us as plants take us into tranquility. An interesting poem.++10
