Botanical Man Poem by Romella Kitchens

Botanical Man

There was some plant I did not know, there by life's roadside.
It stood as if it itself were waiting for the most spectacular of buses to travel about
the city or to parts unknown.

Maybe we ourselves are like that plant..
Known as a generality. Yet, unknown as a specific.
Perhaps we have weaknesses, torn branches or are over bred.
Yet, also perhaps we are splendid beyond belief.

Have you ever had someone treat you like a weed?
Have you ever had them attempt to rip you asunder?
Did you keep coming back?
Did you continue to get stronger no matter what poison they laid on you -- all the way to the roots?
Did you grow even more to your own surprise?

Maybe you and yours all those 'weeds' spawned from a tumultuous inception.

Yes, we grow green and purposeful all of the time.
