Bountiful Love - Poem by Dilantha Gunawardana

Love.........
Gives more than she takes
Tokens and promises, joy and laughter
As she infects the heart's coir
Like a communicable disease
To entrap the heart
In a rainbow of emotion
Yearning for yesterday's magic
Today's frolic
Tomorrow's promise
For love is a path of rose petals
Fragrant and full of color
she shines on you
Like a lamp with an endless oil supply
Even in the darkest coldest night
Love embraces the true self
No guises nor fascia
Just her soul in her pristine nakedness
She doesn't labor but fleets
Like skating downhill on a snow-capped hillock
She doesn't plod but flies
Like an elated hummingbird jazzing her wings
She doesn't doubt but trusts
Like a naive beach embracing the tumultuous tide
She doesn't fury but blooms in ataraxia
Like a freshwater lake in her placid demeanor
She is devoid of apathy and sprinkles with empathy
Like springs of water sprouting on sun-baked terrain
She rarely rejects but heartily accepts
Like Aurora's welcome to the rising sun
She is rarely clothed but flourishes in her nakedness
Like the full moon in a cloudless sky
She transcends divinity but epitomizes mortality
Like a blood-diamond in a boutique in Antwerp
She is blameless but leaves her trail
Like the wind in the autumn willows
She can be served as an aperitif or digestif
For she is no slave of age or time
She dazzles in nature yet she exudes humility
Like a humble butterfly flapping her enigmatic wings
She is a force by herself but has her avatars
Like an endearing smile on her celestial lips
She lives within the fortress of the human heart
Yet she infect every nook of her abode
For a soul infected of love
Smiles from head to foot
