Bull taming is an ancient Tamil game of bravery
Hosted after the harvest festival as customary
A youth risks his own life
For the hand of a suiting wife
Girls watch it to select the match
Based on the bravery of the boy, to catch
Bull pumps with sharp horn
With full strength that is inborn
The young man is totally unarmed
Bull is never let to be harmed
Bull may become defiant
At the hands of an efficient
No bull ever dies
Nor even cries
Bull too waits for such a chance
To uphold fame of his owner with credence
Tho' men are at times injured or died,
None desires to be viewed as pitied
This Jallikattu was also depicted in the Tamil Sangam literature,
Dated between 200 BCE and 250 CE, as Tamil culture!
