Breaking Habits. Poem by Eddie Mitchell

Breaking Habits.

So I'll suffer from these broken bones
The shattered mirrors of my mind.
My punishment is deserved.
I'll leave them behind.

And I will strive forward
and stand as a man
Looking ahead of me
Creating my Perfect plan

And my snowflake will watch me do so
and she will cry with joy
when I come to her
and show her that I am no longer a boy.

Plagued and riddled
with my own selfish needs
I did not fullfill
my promises nor my deeds.

I have watched my snowflake melt.
And I stood by, with nothing to say
the sky has torn me open
It should never be this way

So the pain you have felt
Will vanish from your heart
and I can come back ready to race
and make a fresh start

For the love of my life
For the woman I love.
I will make her feel
Like she was sent from above.
