Breakthrough - Poem by Pete Rivera

Somewhere deep inside
So deep inside
Far down where I cannot reach
I see a light
In me
I see a light
In me

Cold fires pull it away
Like tornadoes in spring
Like trains, the sound of trains
Being so close to me
And finally
I'm free
I'm free

I am not the one you love
I am not a fool
I won't be deceived by you
I won't be another tool

Baskets full of candy
Made me smile
As I thought of you
Those days you gave me skittles
And kept that laugh
But you were not my other half
Not my other half

I am not the one you love
I am not a fool
I won't be deceived by you
I won't be another tool

Remember when we hugged
Under the stars
A permanent reminder
Of who we are
Hypocrites at dawn
Awaiting our fate
The tunnels by the water
By the lake
And then I knew

I am not the one you love
I am not a fool
I won't be deceived by you
I won't be another tool
