Britain In Autumn 2009 Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Britain In Autumn 2009

With pleasure I repeat
an old familiar phrase:
*spring forward and fall back*
This never ceases to amaze
recalled from my younger days;
now nothing to I lack,
for like an old sweet melody
it returns again to rescue me
*spring forward and fall back*

In Britain we change the
hands of time at 2 am on
Sunday morn,25 October
just as we dim the light
and sleep till morning light.

How quickly hours come and go
but we keep to the status quo.
