Britain's Great World War Two Orator. Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Britain's Great World War Two Orator.

I feel honoured to repeat the words
from part of a great speech
made in the Second World War
by British Statesman, Prime Minister,
War Leader and Nobel Prize Winner,
Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill,
The Great Orator, who was born in
eighteen seventy-four, and died in
nineteen sixty five... and I quote:

'We shall defend our Island
whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds;
we shall fight in the fields and
in the streets. We shall fight in the hills.
WE SHALL NEVER SURRENDER.'
(Sir Winston Churchill)
