Broken Poem by Tony Cemaluk

Broken

Every bid is broken.

Ikuchi nwanyi -
Root of brother today, father tomorrow.
Allowed then, anomaly now.
Must be broken, uprooted, cut in pieces.
Must never endure in sane dispensation.

Inheritance must be clean and clear,
Decent and noble.
Currency to cultivate wealth,
Not curse to cleanse.

Wealth is inheritance,
Not curse.
If forefather sinned, let him carry.
My father sinned not, I sin not, my children shall not.

So I broke it -
CE for Cecilia, MALUK for Malukwuo,
CEMALUK - clean slate, ever clean.
Father and mother, one name, one note.

Young, learn to learn, be liberated.
Dignity in labour and learning.
CEMALUK is freedom.
Bondage broken.

Ometalu bulu -
He commits, let him carry.
No transfer.
Commit, carry, cleanse.
Bondage broken forever.
