The was some grass
There was a field
There was a tree
And then there was me
I sat under the tree
Trying to figure out
How
To be me
The grass said
Be like me
Grow hardy and strong
Even when the rains come
Even if they do not come
Grow
The field said
Be like me
Support all who walk your way
Even if they mean you harm
Especially if they mean you harm
The tree said
Be like me
Reach high and wide
Sway in the storm
Even if your branches break
Especially if your branches break
So under the tree
Upon the field
In the grass
I sat
Unmoved by the approaching storms of life
Growing, Supporting, Swaying
And if in this way some lesson is learned
Speak it thus:
The grass and the field and the tree
Are me
