Broken In Between Poem by Casandra Assy

Broken In Between

In your mind, there's a hint of disregard.
You wait for the chance to feel alive,
to wash away the worse of who you are inside.

I watch as your soul slips away,
into your fantasy of oblivion,
all is forgotten, in the drift of darkness.

You give up your faith,
for a love that you conjure up inside yourself.
When all your plans seem to fade,
and all around you breaks.

What you rely on, and that all you fake.
Leaves you in the rays of light,
and finds you in the darkness of the night.

Everything around you changes,
and you try to hold on,
Wrap it around you like a cloak of protection.

You mock all of life's perfections,
When everyone else's to blame for your mistakes
All is in the dark, your secrets, and your lies.
Seeping through your soul.

In the cracks off the walls that you have built.
When it's all more then you can take
You weep in the corners of your mind.

And when you catch that glimpse,
Those slow moving rays of heaven.
How will you hide, the temptation.
