Brother - Poem by Jeannie Anglin

The leaves blow in the wind
As life begins again
There was so much left unsaid
Now you’re gone forever, dead

The love you showed me
Now you will never see
In my children’s eyes
You already said your goodbyes

It’s been six years
Filled with tears
Without you here
I wish you were near

You never met my little girl
Or saw her pretty curls
My baby boy is growing
Into a young man, it’s showing

You were my brother
Like no other
You missed so much of my life
Like the day I became a wife

My uncle by blood, my brother by law
A better brother I never saw
So many others never liked you
But the real you they never knew

You were always there
When I needed someone to care
I wish I could have seen
Just how much you would mean

Now it’s too late
Time was lost to fate
There is so much you will never know
Because I never took the time to show
