Burn Out Poem by Aidan Clevinger

Burn Out

I hear it all from other people,
They swear to me it's true.
But as much as I like hearing it from them,
I need to hear it from you.

They tell me of the fire in your heart,
But all I see is ice.
I don't need solemn declarations
A word or two would suffice.

Perhaps I'm needy and insecure,
Perhaps I worry too much.
But I need to know just how you feel
And I need to feel your touch.

So don't hold anything back from me,
Don't stutter or try to hold out.
Is the fire burning ever brighter,
Or will it soon burn out?
