Burning Mad Poem by James Trotter

Burning Mad

My stomach lurches
I vomit my last meal
I fall to the ground
Relinquish My hold on life
And I fall into darkness
I see demons
Clawing, scratching, clawing, scratching
hissing and howling
And their teeth sink in
My flesh burns
And I swell until I burst
I can feel each piece on the walls
Still burning
And, miraculously, it stops
My flesh melts into the walls
And I arise from a, gentle desert's, sand
Still burning
