But A Madman's Dream Poem by Tim Vallie

But A Madman's Dream

Rating: 5.0

Sometimes that dark which drowns the light
Is not simply ending day
Sometimes the coming of the night
Is the dawn of darker days
Sometimes the world we see, and feel
Is nothing like it seems
Sometimes what we thought was real
Is but a madman’s dream

This is the truth these eyes have learned
Simply by taking a look
The truth for once we all did yearn
Is stranger than any book

This world is filled with darkness
And also filled with light
If you look you’ll see the starkness
In the shadows where they do fight
The trees do listen, and whisper
They speak of the growing dark
As the fire of madness begins to stir
Requiring but a spark
The shadows encroach upon me
Prepared to swallow me whole
I cling to the light so tightly
Praying it will save my soul

This is the day they come to blows
The darkness and the light
Their final chapter shall come to a close
Perhaps this very night

Sometimes all we see, and feel
Is nothing like it seems
Sometimes all we think is real
Is but a madman’s dream

Loved this very original write that shows how complex life is with dark times, as we long for the light to drench our souls. At times reality is such a farce like a madman's dream! Superb write!
