before you know
i'll be gone from this world
and so from your world too
like a whiff of smoke
do i wish to dissolve
into the elements never to return
but where do i go?
the thought does haunt me
several times as i keep awake
into an empty night...
down down there i hear
hey, haven't you done that
many a time by now?
you've known the other day
death and life
is of seventy two cycles
why brood over your next destination
you had been there before
in the solitude of a vacant night
the voice booms and rings...
but still...

What an exceptional piece, Indira, sharing eloquently the paradox of life and death and the reality of 'unknowing'. Yes, reincarnation is as probable as it is improbable - like all spirituality, I guess. Your poem is honest and bold, sharing your most intimate fears with originality and great skill.
