By-Gone Love

By-gone Love
(a poem by Shakil Ahmed)

Your barely perceptible image appeared
Before my tired eye-ball
Like hazy light of winter's moon
So long it was wrapped
In the recess of my heart
Where no arrow can rend assunder
Your impalpable heart and soul
I felt the warmth of your love
Deep into my blood muscles
In the dead of devastating nights
Many times my shrunken face,
Frozen image rejuvinated
Remembering the by-gone days
Lingering sighs and low sobs
Often touched the blinking stars
Perturbed, I turned and looked
At this faint image
To get solace for a while
Leaping in through your heart
Light of celestial love
Touched my lips
Ocean of love began swelling
Within my veins and arteries.
Like a sea after a turbulent tempest
I began chatting
With the blinking stars.
