Rating: 5.0

All was still
as i awoke from my grateful thoughts.
The silence wafted in the air
like the breeze of memories past.
The sweet aroma
of the night long gone,
captured in the decadent mit
of passions fading fragrance.
The image of our merging bodies
left imprints of our desire,
like the flickering flame
of a dying candle,
still written on the shadows on the wall.
In the distance
I could see the first glimmers
of the breaking dawn
as it's rays stretched long
like winding waving fingers
through the darkness of the receding night.
Slivers of sunlight
slipped through the window that morning
gently caressing your face
as you slept.
It gave you a such glow.
so haunting and hollow,
that I knew
it was a radiance of such soft elegance
that it could only have been reserved
for angels who fly above
as they drift on heaven's breath.
I brushed my hand against your cheek
and your eyes fluttered
like a butterfly
just for a moment
and you looked at me and smiled.
It was at that instant
that I realized just how lucky I was
just to be alive
and there next to you
as I held you close to me
warmed in our delight
nestled in the cradle of our love
by the dawn's early light.
