Thoughts of a Single Man

Deep Run The Roots In The Tree Of Our Love - Poem by Thoughts of a Single Man

Deep Run the Roots in the Tree of our Love

We are two seeds
that were planted in the field of fate
laid deep in the lush gardens
just beyond the seal of heavens gate
the waters of the rain
fell from the sky
like crystals drops
that sprinkled their moisture
on our hearts
and it was that moment
suspended in the hourglass of time
that we were destined to never part
we have grown together
over the years
intertwined like the birthing vine
in our hopes and fears
whispering silent prayers
in each others ears
all the time bonded so near
our roots drowned
by the wetness of the weeping ground
long strong and deep
in the soil of the soul
as the base of our tree grew on
and took the firmest hold
through the summers heat
and the winters cold
we were there
in a union of the wooden woo
whose love was planted
and kissed by the morning dew
and so it grew
into the rarest of all trees
that stood the test of time
tender sugar
like the blossoming berry
yet fetching the bittersweet taste
of the lime
as we were woven
like the seemliness threads
concealed in the tapestry of life
connected body soul and mind
the reflections that were made
in the mirrors of the burning dawn
cooled in the soothing shade
left by our sprouting limbs
graced the spirit of the tree within
through destiny's door
our passion shall pour
blinding in the shine
that shall never be dimmed
for we are the blessed kin
to the lords of love
touched by the angels that sing above
as time passed we still grow together
our hearts beating as one
to the beat of a kindred drum
the nectar is so sweet
that drips from the fruits of our desire
gentle sprawling sparks
that lit the light of freedoms fire
for there is no Earthly force
that can separate the two
who where spawned by the seedlings of fate
written on cupids eternal slate
I am with you
as you are with me
within me
tireless in the wireless mixture
of this loving tree
no strings attached to our net
just the endless bounty
of the dreams that we catch
that trot hot on the floors of forever
held in the vision of the winged dove
for we have always known
as we have always grown
we are the dawning blossoms
that extend from the branches
where the shade falls sweet on the land
where we dance joining hands
as our shadows grow long
see us now on the hilly peak
touched by the falling feathers from our soul
I reached for you and you found me wanting
and saved me as your love enveloped me
in the tender vines of the merging mates
carved in the healthy husk
of the merging date
we are one now
grown together warmed by the wind
standing on the edge of dreams yet to come
as the wetness of lost tears
feed the roots beneath us
save and free us
for now we are found
and bound within the tender soil
as the kaleidoscope of emotions bloom
of a love that levitates us
like the magician's wand
wrapped in the bond
of the morning kiss and the evening hug
for deep run the roots in the tree of our love
