Caduta Poem by Luke Hobbs

Caduta

why should I ask your name,
who are fearful and wonderful,
a mystery beyond my mind,
from without space and time,
the thoughts that form words,
and the plumes penning therein,
both struggle to know their role,
effecting causes You are the source,
from which all being flows,
the evening song which all nature sings,
and the promise of sanctuary,
for all evanescent creation,
to return home again

life and death to either side,
foreshadowing every step,
peace through understanding,
You hold both in your hand,
and make jest of corruption,
You are the doorway,
through which we escape time,
in You there is no end

through fields of rock,
like a maze of blades,
where no hold could be found,
You have been my guide,
called me back from the edge,
and kept me from the fall,
You are the evening song,
in You there is no end
