Cainnear Dearg Poem by Cainneach Rua

Cainnear Dearg

The maiden fell upon the earth
Blood red as apples
Spilt out as a crimson sea
Sprinkling hedges
Like a gushing river across
A valley of sorrow
The mother's cries came flooding
The hushed plain
Where light disappeared
As upon a winters noon
A bloodied spear
They left behind
And Medb's tears
Pierced the ages
