On Roger Casement Poem by Cainneach Rua

On Roger Casement

That happy man is smiling from the grave
A large smile I see him make
As bright as a man saved
Spurned he did the
Pleasures of men
That day and evermore
And death found him ready
Then to enter heaven's door
An unlucky man was luckier yet
To eat his cake and keep it
For both worlds he knew
Choosing the one most true
And his faith renewed relit
But now I see him wear a crown
Of joy and peace today
And from there above
Smiling down with love
On Eire's sons he prays
