California Fires Poem by Ray Hansell

California Fires

Smoke still fills the air
As planes fly overhead
Some houses burned to the ground
What more need be said

Livestock and wild animals
Victims of the flames
Some people dreams turned to ashes
Never to be the same

Firefighters working day and night
To bring these fires under control
Every day new fire updates
As more information we are told

They'll get these fires under control
Because that's what they do
Then it's on to the next one
Never knowing where they're going to

They come from all walks of life
People just like you and me
Putting their lives on the line
Fightingt battles we'll never see
