Can I Fall In Love With You Poem by Mixo Malepfane

Can I Fall In Love With You

I do not wish to know your past
For knowing changes everything
Can I paint you with the color of my choice
Let me look at you and see for myself
Can I touch you and feel for myself
Let me kiss you so that you can hear what my heart says about you
Do not make me judge the past, I was not there
I do not want to deny myself these beautiful moments because my heart is broken and my thoughts are scattered
Even thou I do not know why
I want you to know that your past is in the past
I am not perfect either
Why should I act like God and judge you
Forgive yourself and give us a chance
Let us start a new past
My love can I share in your pain
Can I be the sum of the parts of the reason you smile everyday do not wish to be your soul mate
For I wish to be more than a mate
I want to trust you like my mother
Respect you like my father
Love you like my siblings
Listen to you like my grand parents
Honor you like my family
I want to love you like my first love
I want to share moments with you like a friend
Can I show you what lies deep inside my heart like lovers do
I want you to look up to me like a child to their parents
Can I be like your neighbor
I want you to look at me like a stranger and see what I want you to see
Can you be my passion
Can I fall in love with you
