Can I Love You? Poem by Ashley Marie

Can I Love You?

I'm just listening to Ashanti singing on television,

thinking about you and wishing I was singing on your hearts stage.

How I wish my heart was in your loves cage,

then I'll show you something lasting not just a phase,

You may think I'm crazy,

but it's because you do more than amaze me.

And I would do anything just to call you mine,

show you a love more beautiful than an elegant design.

Ashanti's Point, is something I wish were so true

so tell me, can I love you?

Can I be your rose peddles falling from the sky,

Or that little twinkle that glows in your eye?

That warm hug on a cold winters night,

the arms of security that chases away all your frights?

When was that last time your heart turned cartwheels

Or you just couldn't explain how a woman made you feel?

But you just had a sudden outburst of random smiles,

and for her you upgraded your whole since of style.

Let me show your heart what the truth feels like,

something like the joys of a youth with their first kite.

I just want a chance for your heart to cherish,

and I'd give my life before I let your heart perish.

But I would stroke the depths of your emotions,

caressing your desires with Bath & Body lotion,

hot oil massages for your heart,

everything done with the uttermost passion

and until the end, yet from the start.

You'll never miss a beat with your shoes or fusion.

But all your needs will be more than met,

even if it cost me a few gallons of extra sweat.

Because for the right man,

there isn't much I wouldn't do.

So I guess I just have one question,

Can I love you?
