Canned Laughter. Poem by Peter Vealey

Canned Laughter.

On the TV.
Canned laughter.
Cheesy jokes.
Sexist puns.
Still human beings,
With warts and all.
Canned laughter,
'Bring it back!
That`s what democracy is, isn`t it? '
Canned laughter.
It`s everywhere,
Football matches live, snooker on TV.
The theme is now,
As false as,
Love, peace, and war.
Peripheries of life?
Happiness isn`t,
Canned laughter.
'Do we really think it was o.k?
Oh, bring on the real deal! '
What is important,
Is now, only now!
