Captain Shy Poem by Phoenix1 Smith

Captain Shy

Met you in school, we were only ten years old
both just kids not sure of what life is about
you, looking at me all the time, I wonder why
maybe you're curious, new girl in your class..

keep staring at me still, everyday, in line
inside the classroom, every time I recite..
you never talk to me, stared in a shy way
I left our school and went to a new one
never saw you again.. or so thought I..

years have passed.. after a long, long while
you have become a captain of a big ship...
life has been very good to you and friends
and classmate would tell in admiration,
you have the perfect life, a good position,
a successful career and loads of money..

a girl classmate one day asked you:
'hey, you must be a very happy man! '
you replied: 'I may have all the money,
all the things I want, but I am not happy..
for the most beautiful girl of my dreams,
is not with me, she's gone forever.
the only woman that I have truly love
since I was just ten years old'

you told her my name.. and how after
through the years, you'd go to the place
where I live, just wait for hours just to
see me walk down the street on my way
to high school and through college
everyday, just to see me, this would
absolutely make your day happy..

you later learned I am in facebook..
so elated, befriended me at once..
you can't say a word just said 'hi'
like the ten year old that was too shy..

I realized you may be the powerful captain
that sails over the angry, dangerous seas
everyone envies, your wealth and position,
but when in front of me, you will always be
ten year old boy, too shy, can only say 'hi'..
