Car Crash Poem by Mehreen Mujeeb

Car Crash

You were in your car
You saw a car crash
There you sat
Took your seat belt off.

You got drunk while driving
Lost control as you polluted your conscience
Lost control
And turned into a car crash.

Now you’re too scared to get out of your car
And see your world
How it used to be
How you used to see.

Too confused by situations
Sucking your reasoning like a black hole
Situations sorted on the surface
But numb in depth.

You don’t need to make a choice
You don’t need to choose between right and wrong
Blind yourself with darkness
And listen to the beat of your heart
And turn yourself into the music you want to be.

Sometimes even courage is scared
To face a fear
Sometimes the mind is dazed
To choose the right gear.

You’re still stuck in your car
Staring at the handle you hold
Know what you need to do
You don’t have to know if you need to.
You don’t have to open it yourself.

I’m there to open your door
When you’re ready to come out.
