Car Horns Poem by Vera Sidhwa

Car Horns

Car Horns

Yesterday night I walked with you
Amongst cabs, cars horns, lights and subways.
You looked bedazzled,
A stranger to the big city.

It's triple towers and the state building,
It's unimaginably crowded crowds,
Took your breath away.

I watched you closely
As you traipsed around the 'city.'
The city lights shown shining in your eye.
Your amazement didn't lie.

Why did you stay so long in the suburbs?
Why did you think it's thinking was the universe?
Why did you think you were the only ones?
The suburbs should be temporary.
