Carve This Chaos On My Chest Poem by Jeremy Willson

Carve This Chaos On My Chest

Tell me you see me naked and bare
Staining our hearts with the secrets that we've shared
Tell me everything is gonna be okay even when I know you have no clue
Tell me you sense the sparks holding my hand close beside your body
Tell me everything is burning with all that's been said
When I hear you confess that you love me I don't think about the past
All I see in your eyes is a beautiful lingering illusion of "us"
And the water washes us into these situations
Like a plan that wasn't mine
But never let these feelings betray our notions instead
Take me back to when you made those promises
Back to when your breath made whispers
Of how us two would be together
Always and forever
Back to when these emotions used to light a fire within your chest
And your embers would burn in my mouth for months on end
Back to when your touches sent tiny ripples of shiver up my spine
Back to before the love that used to flourish between your lips
Was carried away by the gust of a new spring breeze
The breeze was pristine, it was different, and could carry you
To places I couldn't
So I let you fly, I let you get carried away in the whirlwind
That we both would say we'd never get swept into
Back to before we bloomed and you got blown away in the chaos.
