Casual Casualty Poem by Frederick Francis

Casual Casualty

I have never met a man who could walk
Without taking a first step.
Nor a man who could suffer a beating
Without looking un-kept.
Some things they just go hand in hand
If you have one
The other is in close demand.

Even if you turn away from the sun
It warms your back still.
Despite trying to ignore the cold
You’ll still feel a chill.
Stand by determination to ignore all you want,
It still exists
And your sanity it will taunt.

I have never met a man who could visit passion casually
Without suffering a cost.
Nor a man who is ignorant enough to believe that he can
Who knows what is lost.
If still you try to convince your self you’re able
Then I beg you,
Look upon this man as a fable.
