Cave Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Cave

Cave

Hellnahellir,
The largest man-made cave in Iceland.
There, walls are covered and engraved.
Age unknown; possibly now or then…
Cave’s depth is said to be fifty metres.

But still I love the Oshkandeh.
Can it be “oo- ash-kandeh”?
Replacing:
“It was dug by other.”
(A he, she, someone else.)

If so is, I love it further more.
Means kindness; is honest.

These caves are the man-made
In my dear birthplace.

On the walls food was held
Slowly it came down
For goats, sheep
In the cold.
