Caveat Emptor - Poem by Patti Masterman

You can't buy love-
But you can buy hours
Of endless fawning
And fake solicitude.

You can't purchase caring,
But you can obtain a similitude
Of benign, though rather abstract concern

And all the careless caresses
Of many syrupy, empty words.
