Charlotte Poem by Andy Caldwell

Charlotte

Rating: 4.5

What If when they spoke
no one listened
if we simply did not hear them
when they spewed hateful rhetoric
and when they marched
no one watched them
if our eyes were closed to them
we simply would not hear them
Don't empower 'em
and they will dissipate
they need a victim
Take that away
leave them with nothing

With the title of Charlotte, I expected a much different poem. Rioting, picketing, angry mobs are like 2-year-olds demanding attention by throwing a temper tantrum. Level minds must prevail. Take away the attention they seek, and leave them with nothing. Very well-written.
