Check Mate Poem by gary polonsky

Check Mate

Rating: 5.0

Tell me Bobby Fisher,
How to kill the queen?
Just set out to squish her
Or strategize unseen?

Feign a pawn advance
Or sacrifice a knight?
Perhaps induce a trance
Or stimulate a fight?

On the board of life,
The message plays the same,
‎Listen with a knife
To understand the game.

When the time's arrived
For your final move,
Pounce! Form survived.
Bobby would approve.

Excellent use of chess allusions. I believe the master would approve! 10
