Chest Of Treasures Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Chest Of Treasures

Chest of treasures

In his song, he sings of:
"I pulled you closer to my chest."

I listen; drunk and mesmerised
-thoughts fly…

For years we hugged friends
-siblings and cousins
-kissed on cheeks.

We never thought of sex
-and never felt as gay
-non-of us was queer
-as ugly as we see.

Muslims and Middle East
-proudly recommend
-such hugging.

Chest is chest and carries
-treasure of care, love
-its pieces are made of
-devotions and feelings.

Same is seen in Russia
-with "Bear Hug".

In our hugs find nothing
-but care, love, friendship.

Hate modern and western
-Freud and Hollywood
-everything is sex-based
-their eyes see relations
-sexily with just sex-sex
-sex, sex, sex! Sex, sex, sex!

What about devotion?
What about emotions?
What about love and care?
What about give and take
- (Hope, Warmth, Life) ?

What about promise?
- "Do not leave…"
- "For your sake I stay…"

What about staring?
-in eyes of mom and dad?

What about holding hand
-of the weak and naïve;
-to cross a rough path?

What about lifting child
-yours or mine
-with smile?

What is life?
-is it just genitals?
-simply genitals?
-a crack, vagina?
-or a rod as penis?

What about treasures
-of sharing the feelings?

What about holding hand
-for teaching and learning?

I hate this Western life
-hate Freud, what he taught
-that is what has surfaced
- "Groping, harassment…"
-and abuse of power
-wealth, also position…
-can see it in White House
-to Sunset Boulevard…
