Chestnut Roasting Poem by Mark Heathcote

Chestnut Roasting

Chestnut roasting on an autumn night
chestnut roasting in a roasting pan,
lit by a tardy London streetlight.

Chestnuts roasting come, buy, come buy
chestnuts roasting sold to a serviceman;
something truly earthly he can quantify.

Chestnut roasting placed into a paper bag
chestnut roasting nothing like them chum!
Come, buy them come and buy them by the kilogram.

Chestnut roasting on an autumn night
chestnut roasting under the moonlight
chestnuts' roasting comes and eats some tonight.
