Chewing On Tin Foil Poem by Bryan Corbett

Chewing On Tin Foil

so, I really am trying
to understand what this person
standing in front of me is desperately to say

all the words are there
          but they seem to be
              in the wrong place
                        at the
                              wrong
  time
with the em-PH-a-sis
on the wrong syl-LAB-le

and all I can honestly say
is that listening to you speak
for even the shortest period of time
is an awful lot like chewing on tin foil.

(God, I really hope I didn't just say that out loud.)
