Childhood Is An Innuendo Poem by Josh Harris

Childhood Is An Innuendo

I had a lollipop-flavoured dream
A dream of popsicles and psychedelic
swirls of colour painting the skyline.
Of cotton candy declarations
falling upon the breaths of sweethearts.
Falling and rising in unison,
Like a dance of solace for the bereft.
A tingle of sour tape igniting
like sunbreak
Breaking to a paradigm
of naivete...
of utopic trust...
of gothic comedy.
A cherry-red sparkling of flavour,
inebriating the cityscape,
Spinning the world downside
through the peppermint hole.
I had a lollipop-flavoured dream
And I caressed it with my tongue.
Vanilla sweetness staining my breath
glazing my sight.
I think I'll have another one please.
