Childhood Pals Poem by Runita R Menezes

Childhood Pals

You may have come a long, hard, uneven way.
Nearing your goal faster day by day.
Hoping to reach the unreachable star,
But all the time your memories of old pals aren’t far.

The friends who talked to you straight in the eye,
Who you know, won’t ever lie.
Whose love and trust you can depend on,
When your happiness and the limelight are all gone.

You may move forward thinking you’ve attained what you want most,
But actually there isn’t a person whom you can trust.
When everything is low and your life’s falling apart,
You can always unburden your soul on to your old pal’s heart.

A person who you usually take for granted,
When you are surrounded with those you think matter.
But whose love for you lies hidden somewhere around the bend,
Making you thankful for having such unassuming friends

Thats a very 'friendly' poem! Must've had a great childhood and memorable time with friends...! And why not! Cheers. Subroto
