Childish Drama Poem by Leonard McGee

Childish Drama

I am forced to admit daily
that it is a damn shame
How I fantasize about her
constantly on the morning train

I take mental pictures so she
does not catch me staring
I notice her hair, nails, shoes, bags,
makeup and the outfit she is wearing

I know she use to use
Cover Girl, but switched to MAC
and that her natural color’s brown,
but she dies it black

I know her best friends name,
her favorite book,
that she’s afraid of cats,
and that she can’t cook

I know she loves kids,
but doesn’t want any,
and that she likes her shape,
but hates being skinny

I study her like a prime suspect,
in search of a little eye contact
Hoping she’ll flash a smile,
so that I could shoot one back
Before we get to her stop,
and it all fades to black

At that point I am another day
older and just a little dumber
For so foolishly enjoying such
childish drama

Love this poem. its amazing how much you can get to know someone just by travelling the same way to work. If you like someone, you are gonna take in their phone calls etc and as you say, know a fair bit about them without them realising. I hope you get your smile one day soon. Nessy x
