Childrens' Poetry: Funny Face ©

I woke up this morning with a frown on my face;
In a fine temper, a thorough disgrace!
The sun was not shining, in the way that it should,
Breakfast was boring and tasted of wood!
I stomped through the hallway, and stubbed my big toe,
My tears blinded me and bumped into a door.
'Oh my! Dearie me! ', Mama patted my head,
'My darling, you've woken, on the wrong side of your bed! '
Now that made no sense, not one bit, at all,
My bed stands in front, of my bedroom wall!
I fumed and I fretted, I stamped both my feet,
I turned my nose up at breakfast, refusing to eat!
And then I got hungry, I sulked and I scowled,
Had nothing to do and so I howled.
Mama rushed to my side, with a hug and a cuddle,
Mama would get me, out of this muddle!
She said she would get, a laugh out of me,
if i promised to see, what i wanted to see!
We marched to the mirror, I had a quick peek,
and was shocked to observe, the state of each cheek..
They glowed like two apples, they were pinker than pink!
I looked like a clown, my eyes started to blink...
There were furrows of frowns, starting to spread,
like a wrinkled old sheet, on my forehead!
Oh! I looked quite a sight, like an angry giraffe,
I couldn't help smile and started to laugh!
My angry face, was funny, as funny could be,
Mama and I began laughing at me!
And as soon as I laughed, off went my frown,
for a frown is a smile... just upside-down!
So, when you're angry, and your smile is a squiggle,
take look in the mirror, and you'll start to giggle.
And here is a secret, (no harm if you tell!)
This little trick, works with grown-ups as well!
