It is again that time of year
When we fill our souls with joy and cheer,
When we have a great and holy celebration
Everywhere in our great nation.
Charity workers are ringing their bells
So, shoppers will put their change in their pails,
And they're decorating their houses and their trees
So, the eyes of others they can please.
They sing their favorite Christmas song
As their family and friends all sing along,
Presents are given to one and each and all others
From mom and dad and sisters and brothers.
We are celebrating the birth of our savior and Lord
In some accord,
And as we celebrate his birthday in his name
Many forget from where he came.
When Jesus fed the poor
Many tried to take free lunches out of school forever more,
When Jesus said clothe the homeless
Many blamed and hated and ignored them, to God they'll confess.
When Jesus accepted refugees
Many wanted to build a wall and kick them out as a disease,
When Jesus told you and me to love all people
He meant everyone! not just certain persons under a steeple.
While hearing people argue and fuss
Preaching how we are celebrating Christmas and not Xmas,
And how Christ should belong in Christmas again
Because, his name is built in.
This I believe and I will always honestly say
As I read the Bible and the Lord's words I honestly obey,
And this I believe as I will mention
I'd settle for putting 'Christ' back in 'Christian.'
