With Christ's death in their recent past, thinking still of Jesus,
No wonder two men felt downcast walking to Emmaus!
When they met Jesus on their way, He stayed unrecognised,
When asked why they were in dismay, they spoke of Jesus Christ!
He challenged them as He explained how Jesus is God's Son,
The Passover was pre-ordained, so lost souls could get won!
The Lord must die, that they might live! Christ only must atone!
That's how the Father can forgive! Through Christ and Christ alone!
Somehow, His sermon warmed their hearts with hopes beyond compare!
Yes, that's the way the Good News starts to overcome despair!
Christ's revelation proves complete when each man understands!
They begged Him! Stay with us to eat! That's when they saw His hands!
And seeing these was their reward! The truth no man could hide!
The stranger was the risen Lord! The Saviour who once died!
Behold the man the crowd once jeered, who died upon the Cross!
Then, all at once, Christ disappeared, confirming who He was!
So the two men preached the Good News, with revelation shared,
Telling the Gentiles and the Jews that sinners could get spared!
Our Saviour must get recognised! Our treasure's not in things!
Behold the man! It's Jesus Christ! God's Son, The King of Kings!
