Christmas Gloom Poem by Leslie Alexis

Christmas Gloom

The mistletoe lies on the floor
so kisses are planted on the feet.
Cobwebs hang above the door.
This house is for trick or treat.

The season is warmer than usual.
The ground is brown and littered
with branches from storms unusual
in years when snowy fields glittered.

The Boogeyman must have tricked Frost
to give up snowfall and cheer.
From the heart of this child joy is lost
And Christmas is so very near.
