Citizen Trump's Disgrace Poem by L MILTON HANKINS

Citizen Trump's Disgrace

I am not paralyzed by rampant consternation
We knew the character and behavior
Of Donald J. Trump when we regrettably elected him
To be the forty-fifth president of our nation.

What is the point of feigning surprise -
Or expecting the leopard to change its spots?
During the entire 2020 presidential campaign
The facts stood grimly before our watchful eyes.

Our country is dealing with a difficult crisis, while
Obstinacy and obstruction reigns in the Oval Office.
But, everyone knows the final outcome is clear
The Delawarean won the presidency by a country mile.

Despite all the posturing, rhetoric, and pretense
With sycophantic antics from the administration,
On January 20,2021, at the noonday inauguration
Joseph R. Biden will be our forty-sixth president.

Unfortunately for him, Citizen Trump's disgrace
[Being turned out in utter self-imposed humiliation]
Will find himself without a positive legacy
And chaotically flailing about trying to save face.
