I wonder how I came to be
My inner self's best symphony
I started out with sweet, sweet blends
Inclined to avoid the long-held ends.
Came those days of anxious fears
They characterized my middle years
When sustaining wage and family
Was all I ever deigned to see.
Somewhere along my merry way
I collected noises where'er they lay
Unaware they gathered in my brain
They caused me neither joy nor pain.
They lingered there throughout my life
And now they play me like a fife
I wonder how I came to be
This amalgam of cacophony.
