Closed Fingers Poem by Barbara Haskell

Closed Fingers

Rating: 4.5

Pelting rain,
savage wind,
whirlwind destruction
and closed fingers 'round the door.

Ironic that you commented on my poem 'Not A Pretty Sight.' I have been reading several of your poems. The compression on 'Closed Fingers' strikes me as one of your best. Your final line describes the effort needed to keep negative events from overwhelming your life. In four lines you have evoked what some poets take pages to do, and they don't do as good a job. Thanks for writing your poems and to me.
