This is the closest I'll ever get
Your my secret love I'll never forget
I reach my hand out and it goes right through
And sometimes I wish you knew
I wanna feel your heart beat in rhythm with mine
And then life would be oh so divine
I want your eyes to love me like they love her
To wish it was I that you prefer
Then my heart wouldn't ache like it does when I see you together
So I close my eyes and wish that I was a feather
To float away all my problems into the night sky
But instead you hang me up to dry
So I'll dream another dream and imagine what it's like to be loved by you
To know that you'll always be the love I'll never pursue
So pretend that I'm not there
And I'll continue to pretend that I don't care
Give me a farewell hug and we'll remain friends
All the way down to the very end
When there's nothing left and we're reunited as one
And your love for me has finally begun
There will be nothing more sweeter in this land then the warmth of your hand in mine
